Aliens have invaded the Earth. This is not a drill. In the new Grip Digital game, the story line revolves around the science-fiction arc of alien invasion. And aliens aren’t even the best part of the new game. Alien games and plots are nothing new. Robotic games and plots aren’t the most innovative stories, even though a robot take-over of the world does provide for many interesting plots; they have been milked a lot by developers and fiction writers. No, what makes the new game so unique is that they mixed these two elements – this time we are having a robotic alien invasion on Earth!
Released on 17th July, 2018; Mother gunship is the first person bullet hell shoot em’ up that we’re all waiting for! Games rejoice, for the game brought to you by the makers of Tower of Guns and McDroid has already won the hearts of the critics and is likely to succeed even more. The game is set to be a bullet hell, so the frenzy of shooting em’ down in the first person perspective is something you all are going to be enjoying a lot in the upcoming weeks.
The storyline focuses on defeating an alien robotic flotilla that has conquered the Earth. At the heart of the fleet, a gunship named as Mothergunship serves as the villain of the series. Apparently, the main character, a soldier, happens to be the Earth’s last hope, just like it is in many other shoot em’ up video games. The main character used to have what the game describes as ‘boring peaceful Earthling life’ and used to ‘have a body’. However, unfortunately, the player got disembodied and became a severed head that was plucked by ‘kleptomaniac data-hoarding robot alien invaders’. The game also gives the impression that this was back when the player failed the mission for the first time.
But worry not! There is still a chance. The Earth would still be saved. Despite the fact that the protagonist team is small, and has incinerated bodies; and even heads preserved in ‘gooey preservation liquid that tastes terrible’, this time, they won’t fail. Why? Because, according to the game, the strong-willed heroes are now faster. Not only they are fast, but 97% of their body mass is recyclable. What could possibly go wrong with 97% recyclable bodies? Anyway, the heroes have to invade the invader ships and destroy them from the within, and as they work through the fleet, they would eventually reach the one gunship to rule them all – THE MOTHER GUNSHIP! That is where the challenge lies: will they be able to defeat the mother gunship?
The game play is like the average bullet hell first person shooter. The player would be shooting down enemies in the gunships alien robotic armada. Multiplayer mode is available so it’s the perfect game to play with your friends the next Saturday gaming night. A unique feature of this game is that the levels are randomly generated – the levels could be randomly created from a pool of possible elements. This creates the possibility of playing through a multitude of unique levels.
One of the finer points in this game play is gun crafting. Yes, to destroy those robotic gunships that are not even indigenous to the planet Earth, you have the option to craft your own weapon! This increases the possible options of weapons you can make. The complete modification of guns is in your hands, and it looks very amazing. Twelve-barrel guns that shoot rockets, lightning shotguns… every kind of ballistic instrument is possible in the game! The fine graphics coupled with the customization give rise to one of the most powerful and aesthetically pleasing guns I have ever seen in a video game.
The fighting element of the game is intense. At times there are passionate levels. The non-stop combat of the game is simply marvelous. Destroying of hordes of enemy robot aliens in the unique levels is so much fun. The adrenaline-rushed of the levels of the first person shooter that has been hybridized with the bullet hell mechanics is the best way to chill on the weekends. You have to multitude of bullets coming from enemy fleets while ensuring survival in the war zone as you work up the ranks and reach the next gunship to get to the mother gunship to finish off the aliens.
A new feature coming in the game it its resist mode. This is scheduled to be released this August, as a free update to the game. This is what the official page says about resist mode: Join the ranks of the resistance against the robotic alien invasion. Destroy hordes of metallic fiends and earn your way to the Mother gunship! TO BE ADDED IN AUGUST 2018 AS A FREE UPDATE: MOTHER GUNSHIP will feature an online co-op mode. Fight together with a friend in a full co-op experience, while you work together to cut through the alien fleet and reach that ultimate goal – bringing down the MOTHER GUNSHIP.
Are you excited? I really was when I heard about the game! It is an action packed fun first person shooter that is doing well with the critics. Right now, it has a seven out of ten rating on steam. GameSpot has given it a higher ranking: an eight out of ten. However, how will ordinary games receive the game? We’ll see soon. If you are planning to play the game, it is available on their website.
